THE ‘STARSLINGER’ COLLECTION

The STARSLINGER Collection is rooted in my lifelong fascination with the open universe. Something that immediately humbles me the moment I look up. I’ve ventured into the darkest, most remote places on earth, from Mongolia to Mozambique, Lapland to Big Bend, AlUla to the Mentawai Islands, to the Amazonas… all far from the noise of modern life. This series explores a modern mythology of the frontier, defined not by geography but by the human drive to cross boundaries. Figures emerge under vast, star-filled skies as both solitary and symbolic riders, dreamers and seekers, moving through deserts, mountains, and open land with childlike curiosity. Stars serve as a constant, unifying force, linking distant peoples into a shared experience of discovery and wonder.

Spanning the American West and reaching to the frontiers worldwide, the work asks what it means to stand at the edge of something wild and be left speechless. Whether on horseback in remote land or alone beneath the endless sky, each person stands between past and present, following old paths while making new ones. These are portraits of spirit, not just place.

The series centers on humanity’s lasting tie to the horizon, whether physical, emotional, or cosmic. It asks what it means to journey through a world that is ancient and ever-expanding, where the same constellations have guided travelers since the first man. Yet every journey remains unique. Here, the frontier becomes a universal stage. No matter how cultures differ, an urge for adventure, solitude, and discovery persists.
