The entire shoot only consisted of two takes.  Nailed it on the 2nd take. And yes....the punch in the face is absolutely real.  Believe me, it was very uncomfortable on set for everyone watching him get hit like that, but Ryan insisted on it happening.  Going the extra mile for authenticity.
