CIY blog from 08

Well the past two weeks was no less than amazing. From the people to the events that took place. Working with CIY and their amazing staff gave me such a good feeling everyday. CIY changed my life in highschool and so it is a blessing to take part in making their films. We shot 5 short films which will air one per day for 5 days….obviously…at each summer conference they have. I believe around 20,000 kids will be viewing these. Stoked!

It was a long two weeks, 14+ hour days, multiple shoots, cold freaking weather, and a few set backs but we got 99% finished. We just need to shoot a small scene which we are doing March 8th. I was the “lighting director and first camera assitant. I did the lighting and i changed lenses, i pulled focus. Here is how it went down.

Most ridiculous shoot I have ever done. Hahaha thought shooting dolls would be easy, but NO SHADOWS NEELY….so we had to change lighting non stop. It was insane. Learned a lot though.

There are going to be voice overs for the dolls….they are having a conversation.
Could you tell we were tired?

Derek in the middle. AMAZING DP(camera dude). He is so creative.

Kendra was out actress in this one, always a pleasure working with her. Our location was awesome, just a maze of doors and empty rooms. It is going to be sick.

The top two pics were actually not posed. Just the right moment. Another long day.

Me and Lane Moss, working away, while director just watches the monitor. Lazy MD.

It was so freaking cold, you have no idea. See me? Im a sponge on set, know you know how i learn. Cause I listen!

Shooting at the Haste the Day show, I have never been so frustrated.
I didn’t want to listen to MD then, so he told on me…as you can see in the 3rd pic. hahaha kidding.

Shooting in tight spaces….jeeeez. I seriously have to do something everytime someone points the camera at me.

I just want to thank MD for hiring me and letting me work with him again. Going to his church called Mystery/theology on tap/home groups. It was amazing, I felt a part of it. Getting to hang with Derek and learn how to do a back flip. Getting to chill with Lane Moss, take photos, steal wifi outside Hardies and have good conversation. I got to see some familiar faces and make some new friends. It was an amazing trip. God will do awesome things with those videos and hopefully bring positive change in kids lives. I am blessed to be part of it. I learn so much being around MD and Lane. Thankyou guys so much.

Oh and I would like to thank our sponsors.

hahaha MD hates dell, and hates the fact i got this picture….on the other side i LOVE canon. Umm and Terry, he puts Macgyver to shame. Dude can fix or make anything out of nothing.

Again an amazing trip. Leave a comment jiggas.
Love.

(old) Snowboarding

Old snowboarding blog from myspace.

Vacation…a time I get away and be completely free.
So I hadn’t been boarding in such a long time but I picked it back up like it was riding a bike. I was actually much better this time even though I hadn’t boarded in 6 years. We had a great great time and I got to spend it with awesome people. I went with my dad, his family, my sister, and two best friends.
We went to Sunlight in Glenwood Springs Colorado…we try to go somewhere new everytime, but like I said, it has been 6 years since I have gone last.
We escaped the trip with only a few injuries and only one overnight hospital stay. Poor TIM! His picture story is below.

So to begin the story….me and my sister were very happy to go snowboarding! This was two pictures snapped together…me and my sister both planned on jumping at the same time but we were off just a bit…and I put them both together and created this picture I find hilarious.

and a normal one i guess.

Hotel Pictures
I said a funny joke.

My sister had it coming.

Our hotel was so sweet

At 10,000 feet

I don’t think we were ready.

I stick my tongue out when I ramp.  MJ would be proud.

Chad has got skills, but maybe next year he will get bigger air than me and not bloody your lip. Im still king of the mountain.
hahahaha had a good time bro, glad you came.

Sister showing folks up!!

And this is what happened to poor Timmy when he tried to get major air his first time snowboarding….without taking lessons.

He cut one of his kidney’s and he had to stay a night in the hospital…in the morning he was taking a shower before he left and I creeped into the bathroom while he was taking a shower and scared the hell out of him. hahahahahah

Me and my two best friends. ( I actually just got done hitting Chad in the nuts and he didn’t even flinch for the picture….he is mizzzan)

As you can tell I have a very hard time taking regular pictures…I have to be doing something.
Well overall an amazing trip and im buying a new board and stuff to start going regularly. It is so incredible up there, an amazing creation. God is such an artist.
For all you folks out there debating over boarding or skiing….you will never know how much fun you can have until you board. Don’t settle for what is easier to learn!

This is another blog from my myspace I didn’t want to lose, so I am posting it now on here.

So my roommate Coulter came to the “FOR TODAY – AGAPE” music video shoot and snapped some pics. He is a great photographer. I wish the video looked as good as his photos! We were so limited on time for the shoots, I was stressed, but I got just enough footage for the video.

I will post more as I get them. Thanks for everyone who came to the school shoot. The pics will be up soon. Kids at the Pinkeye…..oh my gosh, freaking coolest live show. You guys went nuts for them. Was one of the best shows I have ever seen.

These pics are from the “performance” part of the video.
www.myspace.com/fortoday

Thanks to Blake, Quinton, Michael, MD, Colton, Ms. Mcgill, Nick, Ally, Britny, Daniel, and everyone who came and helped out. Seriously guys the video wouldn’t have been possible without you guys.

(old) DH Tour

posted in Music, Travel, blog, film Wednesday, April 29, 2009

Enter to view full post.
Insane to think this time last year, we were just about to embark on the DH tour.  Below is my tour blog from my myspace.  I am currently deleting everything off myspace except my videos.  I wanted to keep the blog for memories so I am posting it here.  It is insanely long, so don’t read it unless you are extremely bored.

It begins……………………..

Well I will update this every day or every other day and let you guys know what is going on. However I will not be posting pictures due to them being used for the documentary I am shooting. I don’t want to give anything away! No free previews! ; )

Butttttt, some of the guys have been taking pics and putting them on a website just for the tour, so if you want to see pics from tour, the band is posting them here. Demon Hunter Tour

Well I stayed in Seattle for 4 days before the tour got started. Ryan Clark met me at the airport along with Jeff Carver. That was cool of them to do so, figured I would be catching a cab or something. Well we went to eat lunch and they really calmed alot of my nerves I had about the doc. Ryan told me, “we really don’t know what to expect with the dvd, but we trust you will get the job done.” Jeff and Ryan gave me complete creative control on the dvd, so that is great! Really give me a chance to test myself and what I can do on the fly.

The next day I went to Solid State/Tooth and Nail Records and met the entire staff. That place is, to say the least, AWESOME. Jeff took me around meeting everyone, and then loaded me up with like 20 free cds of any past solid state records I wanted. I also got to hang out at Invisible Creature(Formerly Asterik Studios) which is above Solid State and Tooth and Nail’s offices. That place is amazing. So rich full of creativity and inspiration. They have past work printed out and framed on a large scale. It is what I would hope my future studio would look like.

Also met the band and the other 5 people that I would be hanging with for 6 weeks.
The band, (Ryan, Don, Yogi, Jon, and Ethan) is really cool, all down to earth funny guys. Don has the best laugh I have ever heard. Then Steve(lighting), Stick(Merch), Alec(Guitar Tech),Patrick(Guitar tech and is fill in for Ethan when he leaves for Warped Tour), and Garon(Drum Tech). I seriously haven’t met such a group of funny guys. Alec, Stick, Patrick, but Steve is hands down the funniest. Our bus driver Ted(Rock Hard Ted) is the coolest dude ever. He keeps the laughs going constantly. 1 by 1 we go sit next to him when he is driving, just to hear his stories. Man they are great.

The shows have been great so far and the crowds have been huge. I have gotten some great footage and some great pics, but I find myself having a hard time filming “run and gun style with great audio” and also making the footage look interesting when just following a band. I am doing my best but it is definitely a challenge. This tour has already tested a lot of my boundaries as a filmmaker. I have always wanted to film a doc and this is it. So I have been shooting my butt off making sure I get enough footage.

I also got to meet Joe and Johnny from (Advent) who we are on tour with. They are from the former band Beloved, which is to today still one of my favorites. So getting to hang with them and see Advent every night is an amazing reward. I showed Johnny a picture of me and him like 6 years ago and he couldn’t believe it. Good times.
..

5-29-08
On the road to Pomona and I find it very difficult to sleep in my bunk. Not only do I have the smallest(cause I am the smallest) but I have to share it with a lot of my equipment that doesn’t fit in bins that I need instant access to. So i sleep with my arms under me, and straight legged. Almost like I was in a coffin. I can sleep in anything though so no problem. I can’t complain. I love it. Anyways, I was sleeping and I was dreaming I was choking, and I had a lot of spit in my mouth and I was choking, I couldn’t swallow. It seemed so real, it was insane. Then I woke up….and I was actually choking. I had rolled over in my sleep I suppose and my hoodie and blanket were wrapped around my neck and I had a lot of spit in my mouth. It was insane.

5-30-08
Pomona, Ca

Got here early and went to Starbucks(of course). Got some free coffee, and now sitting here about to load in. It is a beautiful day in Cali. I can’t wait for the show tonight, because I get to watch Sleeping Giant. They are freaking incredible live.

5-31-08
Pomona, Ca

Again the show tonight was incredible. Better than the night before. Fans were really into everything and were extremely loud. Cali weather is beautiful, but it is like I never lived out here. It still is a strange place, and I come out here and see not one person I knew for the year i lived here. It is sad. Oh well, thank God I am with some of the coolest dudes.

6-01-08
On The Road

Well today was a day off, but Ethan and Ryan played an acoustic set in Temecula, Ca I believe is how it is spelled. They played in this sweet skate shop. There was a pretty good turnout. Someone had flown all the way from NY to see DH play in Cali. That is so insane. I wish i could feel what these fans feel in regards to their music, and how it effects their personal lives. I think it is very interesting. Well the footage is piling up, it is going to be so difficult to edit this doc with all the footage I am getting. We are on the road to Tempe,AZ. Will be good times.

6-2/6-5
Sorry I haven’t updated in a while, but the past week has just been bananas! Where to start? Ummm, well the bus’s generator shut down, so you have 12 dudes on a bus without air flow. The bus smelled completely like piss. Well the shows have been amazing, Tempe was great, Denver was great, Albuquerque was rad…..but man Albuquerque has been nucking futs. So our gene shut down here, so we take it in to a shop to get fixed. Not only was our Generator completely retired but there were two open wires that were rubbing on each other. The mechanics said we were only a day or two away from the bus igniting. Ridiculous. So not only did the gene shut down but we have been through 3 tires in 6 days. On the way to Denver, one of our tires exploded and blew our fender away. We drove on it for 3 hours. Sarah it was good seeing you, hope your 22nd b-day is good!

6-6-08
Albuquerque, NM

So today……we canceled the El Paso show, due to bad promoting. Anyways so we spent all day loading our stuff onto the new bus. Our new bus is incredible. I seriously feel like a celebrity on this thing. I would live on this bus if I could. Well we are all hanging out and then boom….the generator on the new bus shut off. So we called the bus driver down and luckily he got it running again. Later on these two guys started doing donuts right outside our bus in a gravel parking lot. They covered Jon Dunn in dust and so he confronted them. Two guys got out, and then about 10 of us got out of the bus. They then opened their trunk and reached in, then put something into their pants. Supposedly it was a gun. We got back on the bus and called the police, and they drove by rolled down the window and said “you mother fuckers want to get shot” and sped off. They busted the back window on our new bus! Well 2 cops showed up on FOOT about 20 minutes later. The cops got the story from Jon and then walked off. Not even 10 minutes later, they caught the 2 right down the street. What a bunch of retards, staying around the vicinity of the crime. They seriously got caught about 50 yards away. So I got my video camera ran down and got some footage. So they got caught and will have to pay for the damage. Now we are on our way to Snyder Texas for a Festival. What a freakind day. Jeez.

6-7-08 – Snyder, Tx
The show was absolutely amazing. There were about 2-3,000 kids watching the show. They were all so into it. Everyone had a really good time, and we had some of the best home cooking I have had. Maylene played and that was great. I believe the festival was called the Red Letter Music Festival or something. It was so rad.

Bottles up, cheers to music festivals, amazing shows, good cooking, star struck fans, and hotel naps.

6-8-08 – San Antonio, Tx
Show tonight was at the White Rabbit. This venue was completely covered in graffiti which was beautiful! It was blistering hot there. Some button maker was there making buttons on the spot, so me and Josh Penner(tour manger) went and got some sweet buttons made in memory of our bus driver. I will be wearing it everyday, it is classic. I miss our old bus driver Ted already. The last day he was was us, we all signed a shirt to him. 11 of us, we all signed a shirt with one of his quotes. He was only with us for 10 days and I promise you, not one of the guys on or bus will ever forget him. I miss you Rock Hard Ted. I went to eat with Advent at this vegetarian place….yuck…but it was rad getting to hang out and talk about Beloved with them and what not. Beloved is still one of my favorite bands to this day. They got me into harder music. Well so we get back to the venue and a CEO of some internet.com company is a HUGE Demon Hunter fan. He drove his Ferrari to the show and his body guard drove a RangeRover. SIIIICK. Anyways, he straight up said you guys are hanging at my mansion tonight. So he rented us a stretch navigator lemo, and we all went to his crib in some incredible gated community. Supposedly a lot of the spurs live there. Anyways, we hung out and what not til 5am. It was seriously one of the best nights of my life. Met some amazing people, and had a great time with the bros touring with DH. It is such a crazy story but, I don’t need to get into the details. Amazing time, will never forget it.

Bottles up, cheers to beautiful art, new friends, awesome fans, Rock Hard Ted buttons, CEO’s, Ferraris, Mansions, hooligans, debt relief, Navigator Limos, Beloved, and young girls with fake id’s.

6-9-08
Houston, Tx

So I interviewed a DH fan that just recently got home from Iraq. Man his story was moving. We went downtown filmed some stuff, and now back at the venue. Great great guy, and his sister is pretty cool too. Anyways, show is going well and is sold out. Dallas should be insane tomorrow. This is my first time in Houston….pretty cool city from what I saw of it downtown.

Bottles up, cheers to our soldiers, the fallen, overseas, the missing, brothers and sisters, the ones we love!

6-10-08
Dallas, Texas

Well it was a hometown show for Oh Sleeper and The Famine. Let me say it was the biggest and best crowd on tour by far. There was still a line around the corner after the 3 band was playing on stage! Me and Penner helped a girl who fainted standing in line. The door didn’t have EMS…hrmm. Btw it is the tour manager’s birthday today. Happy b-day kid. Well I had an 2 interviews before the show. I can’t really elaborate on the details again, because I am saving them for the DVD but man it broke my heart. I tried to prepare myself for this doc as much as I could but some of these stories just pull your heart out and there is nothing you can do about it. After the show I went and hung out with some of the guys and 2 gals. Interesting times. Supposedly one of them was my friend on myspace too. I love when girls come to concerts in high heals and short dresses….or high heals and short shorts, or just high heals. I don’t understand the concept. After going to so many shows, it is so easy to see who comes to the show to see the show, and who comes to the shows to get attention, and could care less about the concert.

Anyways bottles up, cheers to family, marriage, new friends, stealing cars, yogi, patty, jaron, alec, good times, girls who dance on bar tops with dresses on, bums who try to start a fight, terrible english speaking DH fans, myspace friends who find you in public, know it all blondes, birthdays, the heat, and the great state of Texas.

6-11-08
Little Rock, Ar

A little bit closer to home. This show was the smallest so far. The venue is beautiful, and would be so sick of the theater was filled up. Hung out with my friend Jamie which was good times. She got hit on by a bum a few times! Creepy. I told the guy I was a camera man, and he told me, “my girlfriend’s husband is a camera man.” I was like ummm your girlfriends huuuusbaaaand…….I then asked who is girlfriend was and he said “Julia Roberts.” Hahahahaha, anyways….Bruce from Living Sacrifice asked me to film his set so that was pretty cool. He is such a nice guy. I find myself speaking very little when I am around him, I don’t know why. Overall the show was alright. I had a fun time regardless. Had a few technical difficulties in the past few days with my camera. Performed brain surgery in Texas on my 35mm converter which luckily I fixed. Then last night I had a card error on my camera, but I googled the error and then fixed it. I love google. Another thing, 3 times today I have heard someone say “JESUS CHRIST” because they were pissed. All 3 times these people were restaurant employees. 3 different people….it was weird and comical at the same time. Our waitress at Denny’s saw our group, with all our tattoos and stuff, so she thought it would be cool to drop F bombs and other nonsense while waiting on us. Hung out til 2am with Jamie and the crew and then watched some of The Office in my bunk.

Bottles up, cheers to Living Sacrifice, homeless nonsense, Alice Cooper, the office, Jamie, Julia Roberts, God’s Help, beautiful venues, disgruntled employees, and Arkansas selling bottle rocket.

6-12-08
Oklahoma City, OK

Well it is good to be somewhat close to home. Got to OKC today, and of course, freaking hot. Hung out with the dudes all day, went to the crossroads mall. I hate Kiosks. I wish they were illegal. Thank you Chad and Josh for coming to see me and hang at the show. I apologize I was running around a lot of the time shooting. It was a great show, better than I expected. Kids were great and loud. I wish more of my friends would’ve come. I have been gone 20 days, and will be gone another 20. Seems like I have been gone for so long, and I am just now half way through it. Good to be in my state. We cooked out after the show and had a good time. Love bro time. No girls to make guys act differently and compete. Just people being real. Love it.

Bottles up, cheers to bbq, Oklahoma, heat, bro time, lone star beer, Jon Dunn, Jaron, Yogi, Chad, Josh, Manny, seeing friends, loving life, and traveling.

6-13-08
Joplin, Mo

Yes Friday the 13th. We had so much bad luck. Lightning struck the transformer to the foundry and so we were without power until like an hour before the show. Everyone was rushing to get ready and what not. Pretty crazy day. Jon and Ryanb saw the powerlines blow up, would’ve been cool to see. Got to meet and interview a kid named Isaiah and he was a rad little dude. I could sit down and talk to that kid for a while. For a young teen he is very well spoken. He left a big smile on my face. His family came with him and they were so kind. It was great meeting such a close knit family. Reminds me of home. Well Blake, Tim, and Melissa came to kick it, thank you guys. Also got to hang with MD and his wife Allison. It was so good to people I am close to. By the end of the show I was so ready to go home and get some rest before the wedding I had to shoot. On the way home we saw an amazing lightning storm. It was so beautiful and powerful. I am sad to say goodbye to Ethan, it was the last show to watch because he is off to warped tour. I really took a liking to that guy. Amazing dude, can’t wait to kick it with him again. Good luck on warped tour, I will be praying for you buddy. Don’t worry, I WILL make you look good!

Bottles up, cheers to lightning, Isaiah, his family, family in general, love, DH for changing lives, Blake, Tim, Melissa, MD, Allison, Ethan, positivity, and humbleness.

6-15-08
Louisville, KY

2 words….Red Neck. I thought Arkansas and Oklahoma were bad. Not even in comparison. I was so freaking worn out from the wedding this past weekend and traveling. Gotta work hard to get somewhere in life though. The venue was cool and there was a wrecked plane next to it. I believe it was planted there, and it had some graffitti all over it. Vine had found itself wrapping all the way around it. It really reminded me of the crashed plane the drug dealers were flying. The one that killed Boon. It was cool. Also it was Steve’s, the lighting guy, birthday. So the guys pulled a prank on him. Really spur of the moment, but good times none the less.

Bottles Up, cheers to pranks, birthdays, rednecks, crashed planes, lost, and being back on tour.

6-16-08
Day off – Sandusky, Ohio

Maybe you remember hearing this name because it was the town which Tommy Boy was filmed, or at least it is where they wanted you to believe they were. Today was a good day. Spent it relaxing and watching people get tattood in a hotel room! Hahaha it was awesome. Jaron left, and I am very sad to see you go buddy. I will miss you. Jeremy Vangotti, i think is how you spell it, took over for Jaron as drum tech. He is a tattoo artist from Kansas City. Cool cool freaking dude. Turns out we both have a mutual friend we know really well. Small world. It was great to spend the day relaxing in a hotel, watching old war movies on tv, watching dudes get ink. Total tour story. Also, Bonnie chill out. For real. I love you girl, you have no reason to be mad.

Cheers to Jaron, hotel tattoos, Jeremy joining tour, Chris Farley, and a small world.

6-17-08
Detroit, MI

Weirdest show yet. Decent size crowd, but they were so quiet for the first 3 bands. Seriously it was depressing. Looked like they were falling asleep. There is some beautiful old buildings and amazing architecture in this city. The GM building is so rad. The venue the guys played at was where they filmed a rap battle on 8mile with Eminem. Cool times. Well I have been hit up by more homeless people in this city then all cities combined. I don’t understand how stuff like this happens. Seriously. I was told not even to bring my cameras out, cause their is so much mugging and crime around here. Freaking retarded. Tough city for sure. Lisa…boo. Thats all I have to say.

Cheers to bad fans, architecture, history, and 8 mile.

6-18-08
Grand Rapids, MI

Good day, gooooood freaking day. Went to an amazing record store and got 12 dvd’s and a new cd for $60!! That is such an amazing deal. All the movies are basically brand new and not one has a scratch on it. I am so pumped about this. Got back to the venue and filmed someone getting a tattoo. It turned out so great. The kids were very loud tonight, and I had a really good time. Again I am worn out worn out worn out, but got a way to go. This tour seems to be flying by. Speaking of flying, i had to spend an extra $150 to change a flight. Freaking weak sauce. Well chin up, this tour is incredible. Can’t complain.

Cheers to movies, cheap movies, good deals, sacrifices for DH documentary, amazing crowds, having money in my bank account, and cool dudes.

6-19-08
Cincinnati, Ohio

Freaking ghhhhhetto. It was a pretty scary place to be, not going to lie. Show was good, from what I remember, but nothing too exciting going on with it. Oh I got to hang with Andy Reale, director, who is such a cool dude. We talked a while about filming and stuff. I really enjoyed that. Good to see you buddy.

Cheers to sketchy places, Andy Reale, and his awesome work.

6-20-08
Cleveland, Ohio

I had to leave the House of Blues….which was an INCREDIBLE venue, and take a train to the airport. While on the train and waiting for the train, I talked to a few strangers interested in my tattoo. I was surprised being in a city people coming up to talk with me. It was quite refreshing, not going to lie. Public transportation is awesome. $1.75 to get 17 miles. While to take a cab 8 miles was $22 + tip. Siiiiick.

Cheers to cool strangers, cool cities, down to earth people, and public transportation..

6-21-08
Home, wedding.

Beautiful people good food………very tiring.

6-22-08
Philadelphia, PA.

Left for Tulsa, Ok airport at 5am. Thank you so much mom for taking me….again! My flight left at 7, landed in St. Louis, then went to Columbus, Oh….then went to Philly. Hahaha ok so luckily i didn’t have to change planes. It was one flight that just had a few stops. I seriously slept through the entire thing. I thought we landed at our first stop, and they said welcome to Philadelphia. I can’t believe I slept through take off, and landing 3 seperate times, not to mention people leaving and boarding the plane. It is funny falling asleep with noone in your row, and waking to someone sitting next to you. It is so crazy, before my 2005 I have never flown a single time. In 3 years I have easily flown 40-50 times. It is such a routine now. All nighter, sleep the second i take my seat on my flight. Wake up when I land. Turbulence is as normal as drinking water now. I can sleep through anything. My first flight I was so scared. It took me a while before I could sleep on a flight. Well I took a shuttle from the airport to the venue….which was in China town. Man on a side note, I want to learn Mandarin. For real. Well the venue was so beautiful. An old old theater style venue. Got some sick photos from there. Walked around the city a bit. I really really like Philly. It was a cool place. Also enjoyed eating a cheese steak in philly. It was a first, I had to!

6-23-08
Towson, MD

Well it was a beautiful day. Went to Barns and Noble and got me some magazines. Found a magazine with my photo in it. Was very excited. Thanks for telling me Tyler! This place was sick too. Patrick got tattood in the green room and I kinda just hung out all day. It was Ryan’s b-day so happy birthday to him. It rained during the show and revealed a full rainbow. I can say it was a very great site. It put a smile on my face. Got some cool photos of it.

Cheers to beautiful weather, Barns and Noble, Outburn Magazine, for publishing my photo, Means – for using my photos, God and his art.

6-24-08
Norfolk, Va

By far the best venue. Wow wow wow. Beautiful inside and outside. Not to mention the green rooms were freaking INSANE. Had hotubs, ping pong, flat screens, pool tables, cafeteria room, laundry room, a ton of showers. It was a very very classy place with great people running it. Norva, you rock! Well unfortunately Ryan Clark has lost his vocal chords due to having straight shows for 10 days. We had to cancel the show, and it was very heartbreaking for the guys. They don’t want to cancel a show when they only tour every other year. They didn’t want to disappoint their fans! Don and the guys came out before Oh sleeper played and explained the situation, and surprisingly not one kid boo’d…they all cheered and clapped in respect, because they LOVE Demon Hunter. I seriously thought that was the coolest thing ever. Everyone was just waiting for kids to get mad and say mean things, but they were all positive. DH still came out after Living Sac and hung out with the crowd and signed autographs, took pics until every fan was satisfied. These guys are such stand up guys. I have a mad amount of respect for them and what they do. I appreciate them for opening my eyes up to this side of music. The bands that ACTUALLY care about their fans and not just say it. Don, Ryan, Ethan, Yogi, and Jon. Thank you very much. After the show I went to get Sushi with Micah and James from Oh Sleeper. Man I love that band. The dudes in it are so down to earth. I enjoy every second I spend around them. While waiting for Sushi we talked with some of the Chinese workers. One of them was sooooo cute. They barely spoke english but we had fun trying to converse.

Cheers to stand up guys, respectable crowds and people, moving music, timeless events, ping pong, Mandarin, Sushi, Chinese People, Oh Sleeper, Micah and James….and Andy for being a good sport about losing in ping pong.

7-4-08
Indianapolis, Indiana.

Well I got lazy. The rest of the tour has been freaking insane. North Carolina show was canceled as well due to Ryan’s sickness. The Nashville recording was freaking awesome and the crowd was intense. It was a very tiring day and needless to say the night was absolutely incredible. Went to Coyote Ugly and had some good times. What an amazing yet tiring night. ATL was cool, got to meet Kapil from Full lock. What a nice dude and a pleasant surprise. As the tour has been coming to a ceasing end it is truely evident on the face of every person. Actions have somewhat changed and favorites have definitely surfaced. Everyone is trying to get their last bro time in before everyone splits ways. Florida shows were great, got to go to Disneyland and bought me a ton of dvd’s for cheap! I was so stoked. I also bought some movie posters. Which brings me to my next point. GO SEE WALL-E. It is seriously one of the best movies I have seen. I would not be surprised if Wall-E was the first animation to win BEST PICTURE. Some other highlights, went to a gatorfarm in Lake Buena Vista. Got to see some amazing animals and have a good time. As the tour has been coming to an end, I have started going into my loner mode. I have been going and doing everything on my own in my free time. I don’t know why, but I tell you I love doing things by myself. Millvale show was cool, i LOVE the town, probably my fav of all the towns we were in. It was a beautiful little place. I met some interesting people and got to meet Danny ftom Endeavor Media. That was awesome to finally meet such a brilliant mind. I am truly gonna miss the dudes from the other bands. I made some great friends on this tour and will look forward to seeing them again.

Forth of July today, and I spent it mainly alone. I decided to just venture off. I found myself in a neighborhood nearby and met a family, hung out with them, filmed and set off fireworks. They were very nice to me. It was refreshing to meet people so generous to strangers. Esp one with piercings, tattoos and a bandanna sticking out of his pocket. We had great conversation and I helped shed some light on how you can be a christian and have tattoos and piercings! After a few hours of hanging out, I walked around and just listened to my fav song. It was so surreal. I came back to the bus, sat with Steve in some grass nearby and just watched the display of light exploding and billowing smoke. Times like these I will never forget and make me thankful for every minute I am here.

Glasses up, cheers to life. Simple as that.

7-8-08
Seattle, Washington.

Well we are back where we started from. It feels so weird. I have been gone for 48 days and have two more days before I go home. Cornerstone was incredible. SPent the entire day just running into friends and hanging out. Then that night got to watch Still Remains, Haste The Day, DH, and As I Lay Dying. What a great night. Then we drove 2600 mille in 2 freaking days. Sooooo rad. It is definitely bittersweet being back. I love traveling and being away from home as often as I can, but knowing how much work I have to do when I get home, makes me want to go home right now so I can start! I have so much to do, God please give me strength and energy! I can’t believe tour is over. I don’t think it will hit til I get home. Tour overall was one of the best experiences of my life. I am thankful for the opportunity to go out and show people what I can do. I just hope it all comes together in the editing room! On the way back to Seattle, we stopped in Spokane which was amazing. I got to see my sister who just moved there and my mom. She was out visiting my sis. The bus stopped at a truck stop real close to my sisters new place so that was definitely an amazing surprise to finish tour. I miss my sister so freaking much. Well back home I go to my regular boring, crazy, weird life in Muskogee Oklahoma. KEEP IN TOUCH EVERYONE and be looking out for the Documentary. I will update everyone on myspace and my actual website, when I have updates. Thanks for baring with me, and for anyone reading all my nonsense, I appreciate it.

Glasses up, cheers to tour, seeing the world, meeting new friends, making long term bonds, new experiences, amazing opportunities, and thanking God daily for the blessing he bestows upon us in our everyday lives. Thank You so much.

The End.

This was pretty cool to see.  The site run by fans 182 Online found my blog and posted it in regards to Blink 182.  Awesome it got picked up.  I blogged, they blogged back, now I am blogging about them blogging.  HAHAHAHA you don’t even have to say it.

Well here are some videos that as of lately I can’t stop watching.
Blink 182 – “What’s My Age Again” covered by a Choir. AMAZING.

Over at Endeavor Media, those guys have done it again. Their music videos are astounding. This is their latest piece for the band The Chariot. They actually drew the frames by hand. Soooooo much work involved. I can’t stop watching it. Amazing job!
The Chariot – Daggers

This is the new Sprint Cam, which hopefully will catch on at all major sporting events. The footage is unreal. Something about slo-motion just makes the subjects completely superior, regardless of what they are doing. This footage is insane.

How could you not be inspired my Michael Jordan. This commercial is so well done. The film/documentary feel of it is totally my style. It defines everything so well and really holds your attention. The story is painted through smooth b-roll. Excellent spot.

That is all for now.
I will probably be posting more stuff like this often.
Hope everyone is doing well!

Megan’s shoot w/Mark Hoppus

Well yesterday was quite the interesting day. Let me first say, this wasn’t my shoot, nor was I asked by Mark to come shoot.  A young woman named Megan Thompson photographed sir Mark Hoppus from Blink 182.  I found out through mutual friend Jered Scott, and contacted her about assisting.  Megan asked me if I would shoot video for the photo shoot(behind the scenes stuff) and I said, only if Mark says it is ok.  Didn’t want to show up and just put a big camera in his grill.  He agreed to let me film.  I spent the entire time filming away and feel I got some pretty awesome footage.  I ended up “interviewing” him really quickly about the shoot and what it was for.  After I interviewed him, he says, “So whats Vince Gill up to these days?” It surprised me he had seen my videos! He was very down to earth, and had some funny stories to tell.  I appreciate him letting me film.  Let this not be the last project involving him!

Here are some stills that Mark’s friends Erika and Chris took while on the shoot.

Megan totally killed it, and  I am excited to see the final pics.  With her permission I will upload a couple as soon as they are done and for the public eye.  I will also be posting the video very soon!
Btw, meeting Chris Holmes was awesome. He is actually engineering Blinks next album!   Check Chris’s resume out, very respectable.

Glad it all went smooth.

Thanks to Megan and Mark for letting me be a part of it, and Jered for making the connection.
Click on Mark’s name to view his blog!  He blogged about the shoot also!

With much anticipation, my new lens finally came in.  I took 2 shots within 5 minutes of opening the box.
Ryan Downey up above, working away as usual, listening to the new DH rough cuts!

Joseph, above.  About to be my new roomy.
He manages as well.

This lens is insanely sharp.  I can’t wait to get out there and start shooting, esp using it to film with.
Have more pics soon!  Sorry for the short post.

Today is a good day.

Relient K Webisode 3

This webisode was delayed a little bit. I was given the opportunity to ride down to Texas with the guys to Six Flags where they headlined a festival. It was awesome! To start things off, Thiessen and a couple of the guys talked me into getting on a rollercoaster. I haven’t been on one since my dad forced me around the age of 8. I have been horrified ever since. Well not only did they take me to The TITAN, but Thiessen insisted I sit on the very first cart with him. So of course, they had strength in numbers and I didn’t want to look like a wuss, so I agreed. I was so scared. We made it to the top slowly, and Thiessen is just laughing at me. The intial decent was absolutely awesome and terrifying at the same time. I ended up loving it and riding it again later. After that ride, my mom drove 5 hours down from Oklahoma to see me! She picked up my newphew Caden who is 5, and I played uncle all day. Man that kid is great. A lady said “you want to play this game, every play gets a winner.” Caden replied, “I want to play and not win a prize,” and then proceeded to cross his arms in content. I laughed so hard. The lady didn’t even know what to say. I think he enjoyed the go-karts the most. I would act like I was going to run into a wall and then turn at the last second, and fishtail around the corners. He kept on saying “DO IT AGAIN, DO IT AGAIN.” After about 5 hours with him I was so tired. He cried when he left. : ( Definitely not ready for little Cale’s to be running around. Then later got to hang and watch RK rip it up. Their first show in 3 months. It was great.  I will be heading back to Nashville to shoot one more weeks worth in may.

Also, in the webisode I actually went and typed every single person who commented on the facebook page for the 2nd webisode. I think RK fans are so great, so I wanted to make sure I got them all in there. The joke is obviously you can’t read the names, but regardless I didn’t copy and paste or make up any names.

I was pretty into it.

He actually smoked me. I even tried knocking his gun away from him.

Riding dirty. Mom’s picture skills.

When we got in the go-kart, Caden actually sat in the driver seat. He wanted to drive. Hahaha not even close enough to reach the pedals.

And finally he had to have a photo in front of the big bus. He loves cars, and monster trucks. He thought the bus was so cool.

Well that does it for now.  Stoked to get back to Nash and see the RK guys, Brent, Beth, Chels and Hannah!  Hope you will still be there Grant.  Aubre and Moog get your butts up to Nash!

Hope everyone is doing well!

Yes those are real worms in her mouth.  Eep.

Well I am back in the office here at Superhero and it feels great!  Loving the vibe and energy.  Joseph is now in the studio and I am STOKED to have him in Murrieta.  Never thought when we met on DH tour we would soon be living in the same town and working together daily.  God is good.  Sorry it has been a while since I updated.  Last week was a crazy one with Relient K, and then I got pretty sick.  One day I completely lost my voice, but still conducted a few interviews.  Dates got changed so many times, and finally I headed home on a few hours notice from when my flight actually left.  I will be back in Cali for 2 weeks and then head back to Nashville for RK again. Miss you guys already.  More Relient K stuff coming soon!

That is Joseph.  He is a good Christian dude, he plays drums in a band, he can speak fluent French, and is from Belgium, so breakfast in bed with him equals Belgium Waffles.
Oh did I mention…..he is SINGLE.  Amazing dude.  Holler at me for his digits. hahahahahaha

These are a few stills from the five short films I worked on in Missouri (Christ In Youth). I can’t wait to see the finished product.  I hope they make an impact on the viewers this summer!

It was soooooo cold down there.  My good friend Corey(above) was on his knees for about hours and hours on that concrete floor.  Way to stick it out man.   You did a great job.

A little term we call “improvise”

Another good friend of mine Kendrea.  You did awesome!

Director MD talking with Derek and Terry (MacGroober)

I really enjoyed this shoot, although we had to rush rush rush.  I can’t wait to see how it turned out.

Bored on set, so I had the make-up department make me look like death.
I must say they didn’t have to try hard nor use much make-up.

As soon as the CIY vid’s are available I will post em up!

I would also like to make a quick shout out and say I am proud of some things my friends are doing. Moving forward with jobs, getting sweet gigs, graduating, keeping community, and most imporantly being leaders.  You are all awesome and inspiring. Keep it up.

Hope all is well!
