Vince Gill dropped by the studio to film for the travel channel.  After long debate and beating myself up, I decided to finally go ask him.  Luckily I had Jon Schneck to help break the ice.  Thanks for being my wing man!  I talked to Vince, explained what we were doing, and asked if he would let me interview him. He happily accepted.  I grabbed one light, and mic’d him up very fast.  I didn’t want to keep him any longer than a few minutes.  I had questions I thought of the night before.  When I heard he was coming to the studio to film, I thought of what I would ask him if, best case scenario, he agreed to shoot.  Well I interviewed him with Jon for no more than 5 minutes!  It was the quickest interview I have ever shot.  Luckily I got all I needed to edit it smoothly.  Vince was so nice about everything, so I am very thankful he agreed to shoot.

I hope you enjoy Webisode 2.  It was definitely a long week in the studio, but man are the http://www.relientk.com/ guys so rad.  I have been here with them for 2 weeks, but they make me feel like we’ve known each other for years.  I am thankful for them accepting me in as they have.  The RK job has been going so well, they may extend my contract.  I would be spending more time in Nashville, as well as hitting the road with them for a period of time.  God is so good!  I am very very excited for this project.

Nashville has been treating me well.  Been hanging out with Brent and Bethany a lot.  Movies, campfires, and today we went to a lake nearby at dusk  just before it started pouring.  We stood along the shoreline for about 10 minutes just letting the rain bomb us as daylight faded away.  I couldn’t help but close my eyes and just breathe.  I live for moments like those.  I get feelings I can’t even explain.

…..and yes.  I shaved my head.

Btw, I will be in Dallas next weekend for a show.  If anyone from home can make it down, that would be amazing.

Hope everyone is doing well.
To my friends and family,
I love you and miss you.

Monday and Tuesday of this week, The Travel Channel visited Darkhorse Recording Studio to do a segment about recording in Nashville.  Samantha Brown was the host, with special guest Vince Gill.  I met them both, and followed the camera crew around watching what they filmed, what shots they looked for, and the direction behind the segment. Doing my “homework” on set.  They were both very nice, as well as the Producer and DP of the segment.  Talked to Vince about some Oklahoma Football, and watched him sing and play guitar.  So rad.  Jon Schneck, guitarist in Relient K, actually made the Travel Channel segment.  The scene above is actually one of the ending shots for the show.  Seated left to right is Jon Schneck, Samantha Brown, Robin Crow(owner of Darkhorse), and Vince Gill.  Very cool experience for me.

Yesterday and today, Jamie Lynn Spears is in room next to us recording some.  I got a chance to talk with her tour manager Lou, who is based out of Nash.  We  have had some good convo.  She even recommended some churches for me in California.  What a cool woman.  It also turns out we have some mutual friends/contacts.  That was really cool!  I truly believe everyone we meet has purpose behind it.  It was great chatting with her.

Also, I was stoked that Ethan snapped some photos of me working.  I hardly have any behind the scene photos, and these are top notch.  Some of the best I have received.  Some of the clicks I was completely oblivious to.  He is very very sneaky for being every bit of 6′4.  Thank you very much Mr. Luck.   I appreciate it very much.  He has been in several of my posts, but again you must check him out!

How cool, looks like I am holding a fireball.  (RYU, arrrr yuuuukin!!)  I am such a nerd.

This was my fav shot.  Thanks again Ethan.

Lastly, I took a photo(below) of Ethan before he started recording drums.  His cymbal sponsors (Meinl Cymbals) posted it on their site. Pretty sweet!

Hope everyone is having a good week.  Webisode 2 of 4 comes out Sunday.  Make sure you stay tuned!
